Madonna Takes Strong Stand Against Gun Violence – The U.S. Can Learn from Israel

Madonna came out with a new video striking out against gun violence and in support for gun control.

Gun control is a controversial topic in American society.  The second commandment of the American Constitution reads:  A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a Free State, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

Madonna Louise Ciccone (born August 16, 1958) is an American singer, songwriter, actress, and businesswoman. Referred to as the “Queen of Pop” since the 1980s, Madonna is known for pushing the boundaries of songwriting in mainstream popular music and for the imagery she uses onstage and in music videos. She has frequently reinvented her music and image while maintaining autonomy within the recording industry.

The government of the United States is obligated to serve the needs of its citizens to prevent crime and deaths. Firearms regulation supporters claim that the indiscriminate or unrestricted gun rights prevent the government from the prevention of crime such as armed robbery and homicide.  The toll of gun violence in America is ten times more than that of other high income nations.

Each week in America there is at least one police officer who is killed in the line of duty.  Police officers are constantly under attack for defending themselves from potential assault.  It is making it difficult for the police to be able to protect the people.

In Chicago in 2014 there were 765 murders. In Kansas City 129, San Bernadino Calif 62, Memphis 196, Orlando 84, Cleveland 135, Newark, NJ 100, New Orleans 174, Detroit 303, Baltimore 318.

America can learn from Israel about Gun control. Israel is constantly under attack.  All citizens are required to serve in the army.  Those Israelis who apply for a gun liscence can only receive one gun and that’s a hand gun. There are also limits on ammunition.  Many US states grant gun rights liberally while in Israel you need a good reason to have a gun according to your location and occupation.  Forty percent of gun applications are denied in Israel.  Israel relies on professional members of the military and law enforcement for protection of the people.  Possession of guns make it difficult for the government to control the hatred between Israelis and Palestinians. Israel once allowed citizens the use of automatic weapons.  They were used indiscriminately and this permission was discontinued.

In the video published by Madonna against gun violence and for gun control she even portrays herself being attacked by a gunman. Guns kill. Guns are used by terrorists to attack innocent civilians even in holy places. In the past year the synagogue in Pittsburgh was attacked killing eleven, and in California killing one innocent lady and injuring the Rabbi of the congregation.  Twenty six people were killed in a church in Texas.  In 2017 fifty eight people were killed in the Las Vegas shooting.  Twelve were left dead in the california bar shooting in 2018.

Madonna and many other interested humanitarians have called for gun control. Her video illustrates her soul’s concern for the welfare of fellow Americans.

Waging a war between good and evil can be a bore.
